Community Food & Outreach Center

Mission: "To help those in need to transform their lives by providing food, crisis care, opportunities for education and employment, and a hand to families, individuals, and children who are fighting to break the cycle of poverty."

This organization provides emergency food pantry services, and access to food stamps for people in need. Their building is set up as a grocery store; therefore, people can shop for food items at a discounted price. Not only does it provide for people experiencing hunger or food insecurity, but also they have staff that specializes in crisis care. For example, there is domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse counseling available. This organization also has an education program that helps people search for jobs, health and nutrition, and financial balancing.

The Community Food & Outreach Center has a program called Read & Feed. In this program, volunteers will read to the children and then do a short exercise. After, they provide the kids with lunch and a take-home bag. This is a great way to get involved if you enjoy helping kids. If you are interested, contact Mark Perez. He is the Volunteer Coordinator and can be reached at 407-650-0774 ext. 1739.
